Hydrogen Week & Flagship event

The European Hydrogen Week is the biggest annual event dedicated to hydrogen with a series of great events all around hydrogen. The week sees a common cooperation and effort of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and its members: the European Commission, Hydrogen Europe, and Hydrogen Europe Research. Find all about it here!

(Bio)methane cracking: solutions for carbon-negative hydrogen and solid carbon production

online

Three European-funded innovation projects will present some of their solutions for methane cracking to usable hydrogen and carbon materials during an online workshop, followed by a panel discussion on synergies, replication potential, and technology uptake in the sector. Because green hydrogen production is essential towards the carbon-neutrality targets set for 2050, STORMING, TITAN, and COLDSPARK come together to present some of their possible solutions. Don't miss out on the chance to be part of the discussion! Register here! Agenda: 10:00 - Setting the scene: Green hydrogen production for Europe Piero Carlo Dos Reis, DG Clima 10:15 - Solutions: Terje Hauan, Cold plasma (COLDSPARK) David Farrusseng, Microwave-heated catalytic reactors (TITAN) Patricia Benito, Structured, iron-based reactors (STORMING) 11:15 - Panel discussion on synergies, replication and technology uptake (market opportunities and obstacles). Adélio Mendes, Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (112CO2 project) Marina Pasteris, EBA Technical and Project Officer Anton Scholten, Hygear Professor Zhixin Yu, UiS Moderator: Dusan Jakovljevic, Policy Director, EEIP

Navigating the energy transition – Implementing clean hydrogen initiatives in the EU

Brussels Network Office - International Press Centre Bd Charlemagne 1, Brussels

The future of Europe’s sustainability and decarbonization heavily relies on hydrogen, which offers flexibility and enables integration across energy systems, industry, and mobility. The EU Hydrogen Strategy and REPowerEU plan aim to import and produce millions of tons of hydrogen by 2030, targeting energy-intensive industries and hard-to-decarbonize sectors. The legislative process of the Hydrogen and Decarbonized Gas Market Package will shape the regulatory framework for the hydrogen value chain. To ensure successful transition, clear rules and support mechanisms must be established for the emerging hydrogen market. The EUROACTIV Hybrid Conference aims to address challenges and devise strategies for implementing hydrogen initiatives in the EU. Key questions include identifying obstacles in the hydrogen value chain and finding effective solutions, understanding how the regulatory framework can either facilitate or hinder hydrogen infrastructure development, and sharing Member States’ and EU-level strategies and best practices to streamline implementation and drive hydrogen project advancement.
